Manjari Singh
Manjari Singh, a VidyaGyan student, recounts her journey to the United States, where she became the first and only girl from her community to study there. During her one-year stay, she met global thought leaders and built connections and friendships with people from all over the world. This exchange year allowed her to make her own decisions, become an independent girl, a youth ambassador of her country, and an active global youth.
She credits VidyaGyan for opening the doors to a plethora of opportunities and providing continuous support from teachers. VidyaGyan, an initiative of the Shiv Nadar Foundation for children, helped fuel her curiosity and the will to learn more. VidyaGyan also helped her speak fluently in English and soar high in the sky despite hailing from a small village in Uttar Pradesh. Such initiatives and programs by the Foundation focus on digital transformation in India to empower the youth of the country.
Looking back, the best experience for Manjari was representing her country as a youth ambassador in the Senate of the United States in Washington DC. She hopes to become an example of excellence for girls in her village and other villages in India, challenging the perception that being a girl, one cannot succeed in life.
Manjari believes that girls can be changemakers in society, and that she was born to write her own story and take off.
