What do we do

The Foundation was conceived and created to work towards the creation of a more equitable, merit-based society by empowering individuals through transformational education, creativity, and art. The major work of the Foundation has been in the space of education with selective intervention in the field of art.
The initiatives of the Foundation are:
K-12 Level Education
VidyaGyan Leadership Academy: VidyaGyan Leadership Academy is a radical social experiment in nurturing leadership from amongst highly gifted rural poor children, in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Established in 2009, VidyaGyan currently runs two schools and houses over 1300 students. VidyaGyan is not just any other school for the underprivileged, but is a state-of-the-art leadership academy that addresses social imbalances and envisions nurturing and creating leaders who would be the inspiration and role models for their families, communities and society at large.
Shiv Nadar School: The Shiv Nadar School is a not-for-profit initiative of the Shiv Nadar Foundation in K12 private education to deliver educational excellence and provide education for life. The Shiv Nadar School aims to provide students with an environment that challenges them into discovering their talents and skills. The schools will strive to nurture ethical, respectful, happy and purposeful citizens of society. There are currently two Shiv Nadar Schools in the National Capital Region - at Noida and Gurgaon.
Higher Education
SSN Institutions: The Foundation set up the SSN Institutions in 1996 comprising the SSN College of Engineering, already an India top 20 private engineering college, the SSN School of Management and Computer Applications and the SSN School of Advanced Engineering, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Shiv Nadar University: Shiv Nadar University is an international multi-disciplinary, research university located in Greater Noida in India’s National Capital Region. SNU is a private philanthropic institution established by the Shiv Nadar Foundation in 2011 through an act of the State of Uttar Pradesh. The University’s mission is to develop and educate the leaders of tomorrow; to support research, scholarly and creative endeavours that contribute to the creation of new knowledge; and to create research and teaching programs that tackle the most pressing problems of India and the global community. The University offers a full range of academic programs at the undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral level.
SHIKSHA – eradicating illiteracy: The Foundation in 2012 has developed a technology driven primary school program, ‘Shiksha’, currently being tested in rural Uttar Pradesh, in partnership with the government. This program when fully operational will potentially transform the state of literacy in the country with its replicable, scalable and measurable outcome based model.
KNMA: The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, also an initiative of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, is India’s first philanthropic museum promoting modern and contemporary art. KNMA aims to instill a deep sense of appreciation for contemporary art by making it accessible to one and all in a world class facility.
